Updating our Web Site
As we look forward to a new school year, we are in the process of updating our web site. Some of our users have made suggestions that will help make navigating the site easier. You'll also notice a better integration of our individual school and department web sites.
Over the next few days, many parts of our web site will not be accessible as we migrate content to our new site. Thank you for your patience during this transition period.

Goodyear Construction Pictures
As the construction of the new Goodyear School moves forward, we'll provide you with some pictures so you can watch the progress of the construction of this beautiful new facility. Admittedly, it doesn't look like much now--but keep checking our web site for new pictures. I want to thank Gilbane, our construction management company, for providing me with these pictures and their descriptions. (Note: These pictures were taken on July 1st. More recent pictures will be posted soon.)

Have a Happy and Safe Summer!
It is hard to believe that we have completed another school year. I want to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to our talented and hard-working staff, our diligent and respectful students, and our supportive and dedicated parents. I'm very proud to be associated with the Woburn Public Schools. As I complete my first year as Superintendent, I very much appreciate the support and cooperation I have received.
Please continue to check our web site for information during the summer. Soon, we will be setting up a blog that will provide you with updates and pictures from the construction of the new Goodyear School, which will open in September, 2011.
I hope that everyone has a great summer.
Mark Donovan, Superintendent
S.T.A.G.E. Helps Elementary Students Learn How to go “Green”
One of our high school groups, Students Together for a Greener Earth (S.T.A.G.E), is helping our elementary students learn about saving the environment. Under the direction of WMHS teacher Mrs. Tessier du Cros, elementary students visited the high school and engaged in activities related to environmental awareness. Elementary students went on a tour of the high school to learn about its "green" features. S.T.A.G.E students served as tour guide as they led students on a scavenger hunt around the school. The tour was based on the three "R's"--reduce, reuse, recycle. Students learned how the use of natural lighting saves energy, they saw many examples of items from the old high school that were reused, and they were shown the impressive recycling setup in the school cafeteria.
I want to express my thanks to the S.T.A.G.E. members for providing our students with an enjoyable educational experience.

Best Buddies at the Joyce Middle School
The Best Buddies program matches students with different needs together to provide friendship and support for each other. The Best Buddies group at the Joyce Middle School held its end-of-the year celebration today. Students, parents, and staff members were treated to a slide show of activities the Best Buddies had during the school year. The music that accompanied the slide show captu
red the spirit of the Best Buddies program. Selections included "Put a Little Love in Your Heart" and "That's What Friends are For." After the show, everyone enjoyed ice cream in the cafeteria. While there's been a great deal of talk about bullying lately, the students involved in this project set a shining example of treating everyone with dignity and respect.
